5G as an alternative to the optical fibre is a reality
September 11, 2019
The British company Three UK started to offer an Internet connection through a 5G connection with a router in London with, of course, unlimited data.
As we discussed in our blog some time ago, high speed of data transfer and low latency of these new wireless networks make possible to replace cable connections.
This post is about ...
No more waiting
Thanks to this technology, you don’t need to have fibre to enjoy high-speed connections.
Moreover, with the deployment of these networks in different cities around the world, including Spain, operators can provide services so far unimaginable and so they do.
5G routers in companies?
This scenario can be more complicated at this moment. 5G networks as a substitute of fibre in companies may be more difficult due to a resource issue, that is, data consumption is much higher. However, it is true that implementing the correct architecture is the key of good performance in all communication systems, for instance, a router with different 5G SIM cards.
4G in Spain at the moment
In Spain, the same services can be hired for some time but with 4G. Obviously, it is not the same speed, but it allows fluent browsing. These connections also work with a router and a 4G connection with an unlimited capacity.
But this kind of connection cannot be enough for homes where there are more than two devices connected at the same time. It can be a good solution for rural areas without fibre service but with good mobile coverage.
We don’t know when these scenarios will come to Spain, but it is expected to be soon.
