Fixed call termination
Fixed call termination is a service that landlines operators offer to the rest of operators (both of land and mobile lines). Thus, land and mobiles companies can complete telephone calls carried out by their clients to subscribers connected to the network of the fixed-line operators to whom they call.
That is, this cut affects the prices that landlines operators charge to other operators whose subscribers end the call of a client of their network.
Price of fixed calls
According to this new guideline, for the rest of 2019, the current price of €0.0817 per minute will change to €0.0643 per minute.
In 2020, the price will be €0.0593 per minute and €0.0545 per minute in 2021.
Below the European average
After this new regulation, wholesale prices of fixed call termination in our country will continue to be below the European average, which was fixed on 1 January 2019 at €0.0852 per minute.
The impact of this measure
Some time ago, a measure like the one the CNMC just took would have beaten the front pages of the news and lead press conferences of different consumer associations, and discussed by the Telecom operators. However, nowadays the decision of this organism on reducing these costs by 33% will have an almost irrelevant impact in customers invoices and consequently in operators incomes, since for most of the consumers, the cost of this kind of calls is free of charge.
