713,388 mobile lines changed operators, the highest figure registered at the CNMC Data portal, a portal with the statistics of the Spanish National Commission on Financial Markets and Competition which was created in January 2015.
Line profits and losses by operators.
The companies that have benefited the most are:
- MÁSMÓVIL Group, with a positive balance of 50,875 agreements.
- Vodafone, which incurred losses for one year and a half, now faces four months of profits, with 16,513 lines.
On the other side, that is, operators who lost more lines were:
- Movistar, which is the company who lost more lines in October 2019, with a decline of 58,316 lines.
- Orange followed it closely, with a final balance of 41,842 fewer mobile lines.
Although Movistar and Orange suffered a decrease in lines due to mobile portability, these companies, together with Vodafone, accounted for 78.1% of the total mobile lines in the Spanish market.
Vodafone and Orange are awarded contracts of the Guardia Civil.
In line with what was referred to in the previous point regarding the operators with the larger number of lines, Vodafone and Orange have been awarded two communications contracts of the Guardia Civil. It must be highlighted that this is the Spanish public security body that has the largest deployment in Spain and which has a greater number of police powers.
In the case of Vodafone, the operator recently won the tender corresponding to the mobile communications of the Guardia Civil for an amount of 11.37 million Euro and a term of 47 months, which can be extended for 13 months more up to a total of 5 years, as reported by the operator in a press release.
Orange, on its side, was awarded the largest communication contract of the Guardia Civil, and it will provide the Spanish public security body with landline services, unified communications and Internet, which will also be integrated with the mobile network.
